The Tunnel, free street art zone

I started this blog to talk about any type of experience I encounter in London. But very fast it turns out that I mostly talk about food. What can I say I am a food lover! But London is not only about incredible restaurants and bars, this huge city hides marvellous treasures.

So today, for street art lovers, here is a special post about one of the incredible places in London: The Tunnel.

The Tunnel was inaugurated by Banksy. For those not knowing Banksy, he is one of the most renown street artist. Have a look at his website, you certainly know some of his artworks.

The Tunnel is underneath Waterloo rails in a street named Leake st. It was inaugurated in 2008 as an authorised Graffiti area during the Cans Festival created by Banksy. At that time it was supposed to be a Banksy exhibition and walls were covered with his amazing art. Nowadays everything has been covered up by new graffitis making this place a constant ephemeral art piece.

Every inch is covered with can paint, in between big graffiti you can spot some small pearls. The thing is to keep your eyes wide open and  explore every bit of those big walls! Oh, and if you have a dirty car, there is a hand car wash in the middle of all this. How random could this be?

Have a look:
